This year, Bristol became a Learning City, one of many across the world encouraging adults to see learning as a lifelong process.
In keeping with this, a group of our staff team identified that they would like to brush up on their Maths and have returned to the classroom as students themselves. One day per week after school, they arrive with their enthusiasm and calculators to grapple with complex Mathematical theorem, which until now, has eluded them.
We are extremely grateful to our school Governor, Deborah, who is kindly delivering the course. In order to ensure that they are able to gain recognition for their hard work, we have formally registered Briarwood with NCFE, a nationally recognised awarding body. This means that participants will be able to sit an exam and hopefully achieve their Level 2 Functional Numeracy Certificate at the end of their course – we wish them luck!
We think you will agree, this group of staff are shining examples to our children and school community and we already have a second group who are excited about starting in September!
